Learning outcomes
1.1 Be able to apply methods from the group of related content analysis (intent analysis, event analysis) empirical research. 1.2 Know the methodology of empirical content-analytical research. 2.1 Design a sample of documents for empirical content-analytical research. 2.2 Develop a codifier of content analysis and apply the coding procedure. 2.3 Carry out quantification, visualization and analytical interpretation of data.

1. Know the basic methods of analysis of sociological information. 2. Be able to work with a computer. 3. Have basic skills in working with data sets.
Course content
І. History and modernity of content-analytical research. 1 The place of content analysis in the system of related methods. 2 Methodological bases of content analysis. ІІ. Procedure of empirical content-analytical research. 3 Stages of empirical content-analytical research of documents. 4 Formalized document analysis. Quantification procedures in content analysis. 5 Final complex work.

Assessment methods and criteria
1. Practical work (4 items): • application of intensive analysis: LR 1.1– 6 points/ 3 points • application of event analysis: LR 1.1– 6 points/ 3 points • application of cognitive mapping: LR 1.1– 6 points/ 3 points • application of traditional analysis: LR 1.1– 6 points/ 3 points 2. TW 1 and TW 2 (tests): LR 1.1, LR 1.2, LR 2.1, LR 2.2, LR 2.3 - 16/ 10 points (each TW is evaluated at 8 maximum or 5 minimum points) 3. Final mini-project with the use of biographical method for the study of gender issues: LR 2.1, LR 2.2, LR 2.3 - 20 points/ 14 points final assessment - exam: LR 1.1, LR 1.2, LR 2.1.
