Learning outcomes
1. Know the content of the basic legal framework of social and demographic policy; the essence of social and demographic patterns; key approaches and basic methods of statistical assessment of the socio-demographic situation. 2.1 Be able to work with sources of statistical information. 2.2 Be able to analyze statistical information on population and social development. 2.3 Be able to justify the logic of decision-making in the field of social and demographic policy. 3.1 Ability to lead a discussion, substantiate their own views on socio-demographic phenomena and processes. 3.2 Ability to present the results of their own research on the state of socio-demographic processes and structures. 4 Formation of judgments based on various (and, in particular, economic) factors of socio-demographic development.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Know: the general laws of social development, the foundations of philosophy. 2. Possess analytical skills in probability theory, sociology.
Course content
I. General issues of population reproduction, its composition and methods of demographic analysis. 1. Reproduction of the population as a subject of demography and its components. 2. Types of population reproduction. Ukraine against the background of demographic problems of different countries. Demographic policy. 3. The main stages and methods of analysis of demographic processes. 4. Socio-demographic composition of the population. ІІ. Demographic and social processes; basic provisions of social statistics. 5. Mortality and life expectancy. Medical and demographic problems of the population of Ukraine. 6. Fertility, marriage and reproductive behavior. Topic 7. Migration movement of the population 8. Statistics of economic activity of the population and working conditions. 9. Statistics of living standards. 10. Human development and the system of its indicators.

Assessment methods and criteria
1. Oral questioning, discussion - 5 points / 3 points; 2. Solving problems - 15 points / 9 points; 3. Testing - 10 points / 6 points; 4. Test work (2 CDs for 10 maximum or 6 minimum points for each) - 20 points / 12 points; 5. Independent work (2 written works, 5 maximum or 3 minimum points for each) - 10 points / 6 points; final assessment: exam - 40 points / 24 points.
