Learning outcomes
1. Know the strategies of systemic media analysis. 2. Know the main theoretical approaches to understanding media, the evolution of theories about media. 3. Know the characteristics of modern new media: risks and prospects. 4. To be able to use various methodological approaches in media research. 5. To be able to justify and apply methods adequate to the scientific and practical task. 6. Be able to present research results. 7. Be able to independently and responsibly carry out a visual analysis of modern media.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Knowledge about the nature of the media and their functioning in society and in the online space. 2. Basic sociological knowledge of qualitative and quantitative methods of sociological research.
Course content
1. Theoretical approaches to the study of media. 2. Media research strategies. 3. Media research methodology. 4. Method of discourse analysis. 5. Content analysis method. 6. Visual analysis. 7. Methods of social media analysis.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lecture-discussion, independent work, project-research work, case-method, scientific-research method, practical class, presentation and discussion, seminar-training.
Assessment methods and criteria
- semester assessment: 1. Analytical review: PH1.1., PH2.1., PH2.3. - tip 6/ max 10 points. 2. Participation in the discussion, analysis of cases: РН1.2., РН1.3., РН2.2, РН2.3. - tip 12/max 20 points. 3. Presentation of own results of chamber media research: RNZ. 1. - that 6/ max 10 points. 4. Analysis of media photo materials on the topic of the dissertation: PH4.1. - tip 6/max 10 points. 5. PH2.2 test - type 6/max 10 points. - final assessment: written exam - 40 points. Minimum score of successful passing (receiving an overall positive grade) the exam - 24 points. - conditions of admission to the final exam: the applicant is not admitted to the exam if the total number of points is less than the critical calculation minimum of 36 points. Admission to the exam is to write the admission test.
