Learning outcomes
PO01. Be able to apply modern mathematical methods to solve practical problems related to the research and design of biotechnological processes. Use knowledge of physics to analyze biotechnological processes. PO02. To be able to carry out qualitative and quantitative analysis of substances of inorganic, organic and biological origin using appropriate methods. PLO 06. Be able to determine and analyze the basic physical and chemical properties of organic compounds that are part of biological agents (proteins, nucleic acids, carbohydrates, lipids). PO10. To be able to conduct experimental studies to determine the effect of physicochemical and biological environmental factors on the vital activity of cells of living organisms. PO14. To be able to justify the choice of biological agent, composition of the culture medium and method of cultivation, necessary auxiliary works and the main stages of the technological process.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful completion of the courses "Bioorganic Chemistry", "Molecular Biological Basics of Biotechnology", "Biochemistry", "Genetic Basics of Biotechnological Processes", "Fundamentals of Biotechnology". 2) Be able to independently apply knowledge of bioinorganic chemistry, molecular biology, biochemistry, biotechnology and other disciplines, perform laboratory and practical work, work with scientific and methodological literature. 3. Possess basic skills in working with materials and equipment used in biological and biotechnological laboratories.
Course content
The discipline "Molecular basis of enzyme action" covers the study of biochemical and molecular mechanisms of catalysis, modern theories of enzyme-substrate interaction, the relationship between the structure of enzyme active centers and their catalytic activity, biochemical mechanisms of regulation of enzyme functioning. The peculiarities of enzyme functioning are studied, modern data on their structure are summarized, and mechanisms of regulation of enzymatic activity are discussed. Attention is paid to the applied aspects of enzyme use for the development of new drugs aimed at correcting numerous disorders of intracellular biochemical processes.
