Learning outcomes
1. To have critical thinking skills, to express one's own thoughts in a clear way, to argue them.
2. Analyze, comment, summarize, scientific and analytical texts of a cultural nature.
3. Create logically and structurally organized texts on cultural studies, according to specialization.
6. Identify, verify and summarize information about various contexts of cultural practice, determine the degree of their relevance using relevant sources, information, communication tools and visual technologies.
16. Determine, formulate and argue their own civic and professional position on current social issues.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Before studying this course, students should know the main stages of historical development of mankind, the general characteristics of natural language.
2. Be able to identify the structural components of reasoning in texts of various kinds.
3. Possess basic skills of working with professional literature.
Course content
The course introduces students to the subject and method of logic as a science, historical stages of development of logical knowledge, basic formal logical laws, levels and dimensions of logical and semiotic analysis. The types and structure of the meaning of a name, the principles of naming theory, the structure and types of concepts, the relationship between concepts, and logical operations on concepts are considered. The rules of logical operations on concepts are determined. The types of statements, structure and types of simple judgments, relations between simple judgments, logical conjunctions are considered. The basics of classical propositional logic are explained: language, the method of truth tables, and the relation of logical consequence. The specifics and types of deductive and plausible reasoning are clarified. The logical foundations of argumentation are considered.

The semester grade is formed by the points obtained by the student in the process of mastering the material from the entire course. The total grade for the semester consists of the points received for classroom work (express testing, oral answers, quizzes) and for independent work.
