1) successful mastering of the courses "Chinese language: basic course", "Chinese linguistic and cultural studies", "Introduction to University studies", etc.; 2) knowledge of the basics of linguistic and historical-cultural analysis; 3) possession of basic skills of historical and linguistic analysis;
Course content
The aim of the course "Introduction to Chinese Philology" is to acquaint future philologists with the main features of the Chinese language, its origin, place in the classifications of world languages, history and distribution (within China), levels of language structure and current trends in language development. The discipline is one of the mandatory components of the complex discipline "Introduction to Philology" (Part 4), which introduces students to the peculiarities of the formation and development of Chinese philology in China (from antiquity to the early XXI century.) And beyond, including development of Sinology studies in Ukraine.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course provides the following forms of training: lectures and seminars conducted using interactive teaching methods, and individual work. The main types of activities and, accordingly, the objects of semester control are: classroom activities, answers during seminars, researche papers/presentations, tests, module tests with open answers. Detailed planned educational activities and teaching methods are presented in the work program of the discipline, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
Assessment methods and criteria
Knowledge control is carried out according to the ECTS system, which provides for a two-level assessment of the mastered material, including theoretical training, which is 40% of the total assessment, and practical training, which is 60% of the total assessment. The semester number of points is formed by the points received by the student for classroom activities and for individual work. The minimum score for the semester is 60 points, while the maximum score equals 100. The course ends with a final test. A "pass" is set based on the results of the student's work throughout the semester and does not provide for additional assessment activities. Criteria for semester assessment are presented in the work program of the discipline, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
