Learning outcomes
PLO1. To communicate fluently on professional issues with specialists and non-specialists in the state and foreign languages orally and in writing, to use them to organize effective intercultural communication. PLO2. Work effectively with information: select the necessary information from various sources, including professional literature and electronic databases, critically analyze and interpret it, organize, classify and systematize it. PLO10. To know the norms of literary language and be able to apply them in practice. PLO11. To know the principles, technologies and techniques of creating oral and written texts of various genres and styles in the state and Modern Greek and English languages. PLO14. To use the Modern Greek and English languages in oral and written form, in different genre-style varieties and registers of communication (official, informal, neutral), to solve communicative problems in everyday, social, educational, professional, scientific spheres of life.

Course content
The course consists of two modules. In Module 1, students are introduced to the subject of translation studies. Translation is considered t as a type of communication activity. Students comprehend the dialectic of content, form, objective and subjective in translation. They get acquainted with the types of translation and the relations between the participants in the translation process. Module 2 is devoted to the functions of translation and the skills of the translator. The following topics are considered: the role of practice in the development of theoretical thought; national schools of translation; traditional and modern means of translator's work; peculiarities of editing translations of different genres; principles of preserving the national and stylistic originality of the original in the process of translation editing; translation quality criteria and their historical evolution.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Forms of study include lectures, practical classes, consultations, and independent work. Teaching methods include responses to practical exercises, preparation of translation analyses, and tests.
Assessment methods and criteria
The semester number of points is formed by the points received by the student in the process of learning the material from the entire educational course. The overall grade for the semester consists of points received for classroom work (which synthesizes and independent work on processing theoretical material for classroom preparation: oral answers, control papers, tests) and for independent work (preparation of reports, presentations, etc.). All types of work for the semester have the following sum: in the maximum dimension - 100 points, in the minimum dimension - 60 points. Final assessment: credit.
