Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Knowledge: Ukrainian and foreign literature program at the secondary school level. 2. Skills: to carry out a basic literary analysis of a literary text at the level of the secondary school program, to distinguish between literary epochs, trends, styles and phenomena.
Course content
The discipline "Introduction to Literary Studies" aims to form students' understanding of literary studies as a science in the core of philological sciences, the subject of its study, sections of literary studies and their specificity, schools and methods of literary studies, literary studies and interdisciplinary relations, as well as to form and consolidate students' skills of in-depth and complex literary analysis based on the basic tools of literary studies and its gradual expansion, in particular, taking into account such factors as the genus and genre of a work of art, its figurative system, plot, composition, time-space, narrative and intertextual characteristics

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Forms and methods of teaching: lectures and seminars. Assessment: evaluation of students' work in seminars, evaluation of analytical essays during the semester, evaluation of the final test.
Assessment methods and criteria
During the semester, the assessment is carried out in accordance with the types of work and the form of control described in clause 7.1. of the work program of the discipline. The grade for the intermediate control is based on the results of the student's work during the semester and does not provide for additional assessment measures. Students who score a minimum positive grade of 60 points receive "passed". Students who do not score a minimum positive grade of 60 points receive a grade of "not enrolled". Students who score less than 60 points in total during the semester must pass an intermediate control by writing a test of increased complexity on the topics to which they have questions.
