Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastering of courses: Chinese language, Foreign literature, Spoken and Ancient Chinese literature; Historical and regional studies, Chinese linguistic and cultural studies. 2. Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of modern literary criticism and culturology, traditional and modern paradigms of modern literary interpretation. 3. Proficiency in techniques and methods of traditional literary analysis of literary texts, basic skills of literary translation and textual analysis. 4. Ability to perform genre-stylistic and figurative-symbolic analysis of medieval Chinese prose and poetry.
Course content
The aim of the discipline is to acquaint students with the peculiarities of the literary process in medieval China - from the period of 六朝 (220-589) to the 宋朝 (960-1279) and to form their practical ability to analyze various genres of prose and poetry. The main task related to the development of Chinese literature of the II-XII centuries is the study of factual material on specific examples of historical and literary heritage. Course "History of Chinese Literature" - a complex multi-semester obligatory discipline, consisting of 4 parts: Part 1. Oral and ancient Chinese literature; Part 2. Chinese literature of the II-XII centuries; Part 3. Chinese traditional drama; Part 4. Chinese literature of the XIV-XIX centuries.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course provides the following forms of training: lectures and seminars conducted using interactive teaching methods, and individual work. The main types of activities and, accordingly, the objects of semester control are: classroom activities, answers during seminars, analytical report (presentation), module tests, as well as course work on topics and issues of the discipline. Detailed planned educational activities and teaching methods are presented in the work program of the discipline, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
Assessment methods and criteria
Knowledge control is carried out according to the ECTS system, which provides for a two-level assessment of the mastered material, including theoretical training, which is 40% of the total assessment, and practical training, which is 60% of the total assessment. The semester number of points is formed by the points received by the student for classroom activities and for individual work. The minimum score for the semester is 60 points, while the maximum score equals 100. The course ends with a final test. A "pass" is set based on the results of the student's work throughout the semester and does not provide for additional assessment activities. Criteria for semester assessment are presented in the work program of the discipline, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
