Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful mastering of the disciplines of the educational program "Hydrology and integrated management of water resources", "Hydroecology", "Dangerous hydrological phenomena", "Water exchange of surface and underground waters and methods of its assessment", "Ecological assessment of anthropogenic impact on water resources", "Water management calculations", "Applied application of GIS in solving hydroecological problems."
Course content
This educational discipline is dedicated to the study and formation of students' knowledge and skills in modeling and forecasting the state of aquatic ecosystems. Models and simulations of aquatic ecosystems occupy a large place in mathematical ecology, primarily because the aquatic environment is much more homogeneous than land, which is easier to study and simulate. Separate components of the discipline are the following: types and features of modeling in ecology and hydroecology; main factors and principles taken into account in environmental modeling; concepts of mathematical models and their main types used in the description of hydrological and ecological processes; modeling and forecasting of the state of water ecosystems; kinetic models of biota growth, concentrations, various cycles in the environment of water bodies; stochastic models of phytoplankton growth, pollution of water bodies, oxygen consumption in water bodies, etc.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, practical work, independent work, defenses of independently completed practical work, modular control work, exam
Assessment methods and criteria
During the semester, after the completion of the relevant topics, thematic written control papers with open questions are conducted. It is mandatory for the exam to write test papers according to content modules, to complete all practical works. For students who scored a total of less than the critical calculation minimum - 36 points, writing essays on insufficiently mastered topics is a mandatory condition for admission to the exam. The maximum number of points on the exam is 40 points, the minimum number of points that are added to the semester ones is 24 points (60% of the maximum number of points assigned to the exam). Students who, during the semester, scored a total of less points than the critical calculation minimum - 20 points are not allowed to take the exam. The recommended minimum for admission to the exam is 36 points.
