Learning outcomes
Know: The structure and principles of stratigraphy. Stages of preparation of the stratigraphic basis. Supporting and typical stratigraphic sections. Classification of sedimentary rocks. Rules for selection, study and description of sections. Disagreements, types and kinds and their geological interpretation. Types of stratification, signs of selection and belonging to facies. Evolution of the organic world in the exposition of the paleontological museum. Taxonomy and taxonomy. Nomenclature rules. Basic theories of the origin of the organic world. Be able to: Isolate seismostratons during the dismemberment and correlation of sedimentary strata. Determination of the structure of sequences (tracts) and types of stratigraphic boundaries. Determine the relative geological age of sediments from fossil remains of fauna and flora. Diagnose orthostratigraphic groups of fossils to the level of the genus
Form of study
Prerequisites and co-requisites
Basic knowledge of general and historical geology, basics of geochemistry
Course content
One of the aspects of students' geological worldview is formed in understanding the main reasons and regularities of accumulation (stratification) of sediments on the Earth and within separate regions; connection of biostratons with the evolution of the organic world in chronological order and lateral arrangement; provides understanding and knowledge of the spatio-temporal sequence of formation of stratigraphic units of the earth's crust in the relationship between the individual components of the geological environment (geological time - physical and geographical conditions - sediment - rock). Laboratory classes are aimed at students mastering the skills of primary processing of paleontological data (using a magnifying glass, binocular microscope, working with determinants, etc.). Students are also introduced to the morphology of fossil objects (focusing on diagnostic informative and facial significant features).

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures and praktycal classes, presentations, independent work.
Assessment methods and criteria
Final assessment in the form of an exam. The exam is held upon completion of the entire discipline with a maximum score of 40 points, a boundary score of 24 points. There are 4 modular works, each of which is evaluated at 10 points and laboratory works which are evaluated at 20 points.
