Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful mastering of the disciplines: “Lingual Country Studies of the Oriental Languages”, “Introduction to Oriental Philology”, “Ethnocultural specificity of Persian phraseology”; knowledge of the Persian language at advanced level, linguistic terminology and basic laws of language development (from the course "Basics of Linguistics").
Course content
The goal of the discipline is to give students a general idea of Cultural linguistics as an integral science that considers the connection between language and culture; to aquaint them with its main concepts and categories; to highlight the methodological foundations of the study of the concepts of the Persian language and culture; to show the connection between Cultural linguistics and intercultural communication. The discipline belongs to the block of disciplines of the student's free choice and has a practical direction.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Learning activities comprise interactive lectures and seminar classes. Students’ self-study involves preparation for oral responses, reports with the analyses of scientific literature, research presentation, precis, summaries.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semestral assessment is based on the oral testing, written assignments, translation exercises – 36/60 points, modular test papers – 24/40 points, final test paper – 12/20 points. The credit is given based on the results of the student’s work throughout the entire semester and does not include additional assessment measures. Students who scored 60 points, the required minimum, receive “passed”. Students who failed to score 60 points, the required minimum, receive “failed”. Those students who scored totally less than 60 points during the semester period should complete a test paper in the items which he/she failed to pass. Final score 60-100 – passed; 0-59 – failed.
