Learning outcomes
PLO 2. To have deep knowledge of the state and foreign languages for the written and oral communication purposes, professional and scientific communication in particular; to present research results in the state and foreign languages. Prerequisites and co-requisites
Before starting work on a research project, students should know the sources, formation and peculiarities of the functioning of folk art, folkloristics, and intercultural communication in Ukraine and the world. Be able to work with educational and scientific information in the field of folklore studies/intercultural communication, process it, make generalizations and conclusions regarding folklore, folkloristic and intercultural communication heritage. Have basic research skills; comparative and poetic analysis, description and evaluation of the value of samples of oral literature; researches at different levels of the cultural text; characteristics and analysis of the characteristics of different cultural groups, mastering the skills of their identification and analysis.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to write and defend a master's thesis (research project) - to deepen the skills and knowledge of conducting scientific research work and to establish the actual correspondence of the graduate's educational and qualification level The master's qualification work in folklore studies/intercultural communication is a research project of master's level students. The discipline belongs to the list of mandatory subjects, taught in the 1st and 4th semesters - in accordance with the curriculum of the ЕSР "Folklore, intercultural communication, foreign language". The discipline is part of the research component of the educational program - it is its most important and responsible link, therefore it provides for such forms of work as substantiating the relevance of the topic of the research work, compiling the source base of the research - presenting the main provisions during the approbation.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Choosing a topic for a master's thesis and writing a detailed work plan on it. Definition of subject, object, development of hypothesis and strategy of field research/evaluation of folklore artefact of culture/description/research of mental characteristics of cultural groups. Determination of the stages and terms of the work, writing the work, preparation of a report on the defense of the qualification work, explanatory note, registration of the master’s qualification work in accordance with the requirements, defense of the master’s qualification work in the examination committee
Assessment methods and criteria
The assessment for writing a master's qualifying research paper consists of three components: 1) evaluation of the scientific supervisor, who fills out the feedback form of the scientific supervisor (Appendix B) in accordance with the evaluation criteria (up to 10 points max.); 2) evaluations of the reviewer, who fills out the review form (Appendix B) in accordance with the evaluation criteria (up to 45 points max.) 3) grades for the defense of the qualification work (up to 45 points max.), which are issued by the certification commission and entered in the final evaluation sheet (Appendix D), which also contains the overall grade as an arithmetic whole of three components (up to 100 points max.).
