Learning outcomes
PLO 2. Process information effectively: collect relevant information from a variety of sources, including professional literature and electronic databases, critically analyze and interpret it, organize, classify and systematize it. PLO 8. To know and understand the language system, the general properties of literature as an art of words, the history of the French and English languages and literatures, and to be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities. PLO 12. Analyze language units, determine their interaction and characterize linguistic phenomena and the underlying processes.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
The student must successfully master all lexical and grammatical topics provided in the "Practical French Language Course" in the first year of study. The theoretical basis of the discipline consists of the knowledge acquired during the study of such disciplines as "Introduction to Linguistics" and "Introduction to Translation Studies". Before starting this course, students should know the basics of morphology, syntax, vocabulary, phonetics and orthography of the French language: basic French vocabulary, the features of conjugation of the studied lexical units, the main grammatical models of all types of French sentences, as well as the basic terms of translation studies.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to start training French translation specialists based on the formation of skills and abilities necessary for a future translator; start teaching the basics of translation practice, both written and oral, based on the terminological apparatus introduced in the "Introduction to Translation Studies" course. Abstract of the academic discipline. The educational discipline "Practice of written and oral translation" is a component of the educational and professional training program for specialists at the educational and qualification level "bachelor". This discipline is part of the normative part of the cycle of disciplines of professional and practical training. The educational discipline continues the practical and theoretical mastery of the French language, which was started in the first year, and begins the study of translation, its elementary foundations and features, the development of skills related to the field of future professional activity. Classes are held in the form of practical classes. The discipline ends with a credit in each semester.

Assessment methods and criteria
Semester assessment: credit. The maximum number of points during the semester is 100 points. Students who scored the minimum positive number of points - 60, receive "enrolled". Evaluation criteria: (RN 1.1-1.3, 2.1-2.4, 3.1-3.2, 4.1): 1. Answers in practical classes - 5 points, 2. Execution of translations - 5 p., 3. Performing exercises, dictation - 5 points, 4. Blitz survey - 5 points, 5. Writing tests - 5-10 points, 6. Modular control work - 20-25 p. Evaluation of all types of work is carried out in points, in accordance with clause 7.1 of the work program of the discipline.
