Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastering of courses: Eastern language (basic, intermediate, advanced, functional levels), Introduction to Eastern philology, Linguistics of Eastern language, Theoretical grammar of the first Eastern language. 2. Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of general linguistics, phonetics of modern Vietnamese, culturology, history and geography of Vietnam. 3. Skills of literary and cultural analysis of original works.
Course content
The discipline "History of the First Eastern Language" is one of the obligatory components of the comprehensive training of bachelors in Philology (Eastern Languages and Literatures (translation included)" within educational program. The discipline "History of the First Eastern Language" is aimed at mastering theoretical material on the main stages of Vietnamese language development, principles and methods of analysis of Vietnamese language features at different stages of its development, recognition of language elements specific to a particular stage (based on representative texts of the day); to determine the phonetic, lexical and grammatical features of the Vietnamese language in different periods of its formation and development.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course provides the following forms of training: lectures and seminars conducted using interactive teaching methods, and individual work. The main types of work and, accordingly, the objects of semester control are: answers during seminars, presentations, module tests. Detailed planned educational activities and teaching methods are presented in the work program of the discipline, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
Assessment methods and criteria
Knowledge control is carried out according to the ECTS system, which provides for a two-level assessment of the mastered material, including theoretical training, which is 40% of the total assessment, and practical training, which is 60% of the total assessment. The semester number of points is formed by the points received by the student for classroom activities and for individual work. The minimum score for the semester is 36 points, while the maximum score equals 60. Final assessment: exam. The exam is conducted in the form of written work: 1 theoretical question with an open answer, which is evaluated by max.20 points; 1 practical task (translation of an excerpt of the original Vietnamese text), which is estimated at max. 20 points.
