Prerequisites and co-requisites
Prerequisites and performance requirements To complete the practicum successfully, students are required to have basic knowledge of pedagogy, and have a grasp of major concepts, such as “system of education”, “educational establishment", " education seeker", "instructional process", “educational activities", "teaching and educational activities”.
Course content
Course description The practicum aims to equip students with knowledge about the legislative framework and the specifics of secondary education institution functioning. This is implemented through familiarizing trainees with normative acts that regulate the educational process and inter-institutional relationships of participants in the educational process. During the practicum, students are required to study some legal acts and analyze the secondary school activities in terms of implementing the rights and obligations of the school administration, teachers, students, and their parents. The practicum spans a three-week period. It contains one module aimed at meeting and communicating with school administrators and staff, as well as an analysis of various aspects of secondary school functioning. The practicum engages trainees full time. Practicum settings (secondary educational establishments) are determined each year in compliance with the agreements signed. The practicum ends in a pass/fail credit with scores.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Classroom activities and training techniques The major activities that engage trainees are communication with school administration and staff, examination of normative acts, and specifics of secondary school functioning. The formative assessment considers an electronic summary of educational documentation, an analytical report of school activities, presentation of the reported practicum outcomes. Students present their reported practicum outcomes provided they gain at least a minimum score for the first and second activities. Students are admitted to defending their practicum provided they gained at least a minimum score for the first and second activities. Assessment methods and criteria
Assessment The total grade is based on a 100-point grading scheme. It is composed of the scores earned for each activity performed during the practicum: an electronic summary of educational documentation (max. 50, min.30 points), an analytical report of school activities (max. 40, min. 24 points), presentation of the reported practicum outcomes (max. 10, min. 6 points).
