Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful performance in the course students are required to 1. Know: theoretical foundations of pedagogy, its concepts and scientific approaches; peculiarities of linguistic didactics as a science and branch methods; peculiarities of pedagogical discourse: the basics of the scientific style of the Ukrainian language; a set of strategies and tactics of a teacher of language and literature.
2. Be able to: design a course of study (especially language and literature) in programs, plans, textbooks; use methods, techniques in various organizational forms of training in various training systems; build complexes of exercises, tasks for mastering various aspects of language and speech. analyze the problems of the teaching process and propose ways to solve them; communicate freely in the state language both orally and in writing in a scientific style.
3. Successfully master the basics of pedagogy, psychology, teaching methods of philological disciplines.
Course content
The course aims to enhance scientific competence of discussion, analysis of teaching process of pedagogical-methodological disciplines in higher education institutions. Master students get involved into defining theoretical methods of studying at universities, colleges, academies in the form of a scientific seminar; ascertain types of pedagogical and methodological disciplines at higher education institutions of different types, their subject and class structures; find out the problems and current challenges of teaching disciplines of pedagogical- methodological cycles, their peculiarity at higher education institutions and philological faculties; get acquainted with the function of consulting of student’s scientific research by a higher institution lecturer. A scientific seminar provides discussion of specified questions, writing of scientific references and reports, project work in accordance with norms of Ukrainian scientific language.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The discipline is a 90-hour course, which combines lectures, practical sessions and independent learning. The teaching methods used: academic discussion, project work, research work, academic conversation, multimedia based learning.
Assessment methods and criteria
The formative assessment combines a preparation of projects (max – 22 points; min – 15 points) research work (max – 28 points; min –20 points); participation in seminars (max – 50 points; min – 25 points).
With a 100-point assessment system used, a final grade for the course is a sum of the points earned for the formative assessment (max – 80; min - 48).
At the end of the course, students take a test. The final grade for the course is a sum of the points earned for the formative assessment (max – 80; min - 48) and summative assessment (max – 20; min – 12).
Summative test that is designed to cover the intended learning outcomes (LO) of the course such as LO 1.1-1.8, 2.1-2.4; the test integrates 2 writing assignments. Each assignment weighs 10 points.
