Program Learning Outcomes PLO 1. Know and be able to analyze basic concepts, categories, and theories, implement strategies and analyze trends in the development of Ukrainian literature, the history of formation and development of Ukrainian literary studies, the influence of folklore on the development of Ukrainian literature; use the knowledge and skills in professional activities. Be able to recognize the importance of lifelong learning with the aim of increasing the acquired knowledge and gaining new professional knowledge to enhance personal development skills and to effectively organize the educational process. Prerequisites and co-requisites
To be eligible for the course students are required to have prior knowledge of salient features of Ukrainian Literature Studies as the study about an art of expression and science of literary theories; the interdisciplinary connection between literary criticism and other humanistic disciplines. The course prerequisites also emphasize the ability to: interpret the information from the position of the evolution of the literary process in the historical context of the 19th-20th centuries; apply essential concepts and theories to the analysis of literary phenomena; use resources in foreign languages; process literary texts; create complex oral and written texts; cooperate in learning and research project settings; manage and assess personal achievements and use interactive and multimedia tools. Moreover, students are expected to possess essential research and management skills; critical attitude to the analyzed phenomena.
Course content
The course aims to equip students with knowledge about the main periods of the evolution of Ukrainian Literature Studies of the 19th-20th centuries; establish theoretical foundation and develop practical skills necessary for mastering modern methods of literary analysis; provide students with underlying principles of literature studies and enhance critical thinking skills; furnish students with knowledge about various methodological systems, interpretive approaches that will assist them in studying a text, interpreting its meanings, and exploring its literary nuances. The course focuses on examining modern methods of literary analysis and interpretation theories; underlying principles and critical thinking strategies; the methodology of literary research in practice to use them in professional teaching practice. The course provides classroom work in the form of lectures, practical classes and independent work which aims to study practical textbooks, analytical reading of literary, literary critical texts, creative literary writing tasks. The subject of the discipline is the best examples of world and domestic historical -literary, theoretical critical thinking opinion , methodology, methodology of modern methods of literary analysis. While studying the course learners master modern methods of literary analysis; establish theoretical foundation and develop practical skills necessary for mastering modern methods of literary analysis; the course provides students with underlying principles of literature studies and enhances critical thinking skills; underlying principles and critical thinking strategies. Students apply the methodology of literary research in practice to be able to realize it in their future professional activity.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The discipline combines lectures, seminars, autonomous work and teaching methods: problem solving lecture, academic discussion, project work, research work, academic conversation.
Assessment methods and criteria
Formative assessment includes a mixture of assessment activities (oral answers in seminars; participation in heuristic discussions and classroom talks, projects, creative tasks and academic reports). A student can score a maximum of 60 points and a minimum of 36 points for these activities. In particular, a student can score a maximum of 20 points and a minimum of 12 points for oral answers and participation in heuristic discussions; a maximum of 12 points and a minimum of 8 points for participation in classroom talks; a maximum of 10 points and a minimum of 6 points for completing a project; a maximum of 12 points and a minimum of 8 points for creative tasks; a maximum of 10 points and a minimum of 6 points for a report. During the summative assessment (a written exam) a student can earn maximum 40 points and minimum 24 points. The total score is then added to the score earned by a student during the formative assessment (60 points max).
