Learning outcomes
PLO 7 Understand the main issues of philology and approaches to their solution using appropriate methods and innovative approaches. PLO 8 Know and understand the language system, general characteristics of literature as the art of words, history of the Ukrainian language and literature, and be able to apply this knowledge in the professional activity. PLO 15 Carry out linguistic and literary analysis of the texts of various styles and genres. PLO 16 Know and understand the basic concepts and theories of the chosen philological specialization, be able to apply them in professional activity. PLO 21.2 Know literary process in Ukraine and the world of the 20th–21st centuries, as well as the context of literature, in particular, among other types of art.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
The student must: 1) Know the main features of styles and directions in fiction and art, as well as key works of writers from the Ukrainian and Western canon of the second half of the 20th to the beginning of the 21st century. 2) Be able to systematize literary facts and phenomena, providing them with an objective assessment. They should also be capable of determining the genre and style features of the analyzed text, understanding its subject matter and addressing its issues. 3) Have elementary skills in the interpretation of artistic phenomena, trends, and artifacts. Additionally, they should be able to systematize literary works based on subject, problem, genre, and style features. The student should be able to highlight the most noticeable features and identify the most indicative trends in the literary process using specific examples. Furthermore, they should be proficient in using basic terminology in the field of fiction and art and demonstrate oral and written knowledge.
Course content
The aim of the course is the in-depth study of Ukrainian literature as the art of speech, emphasizing its inseparable connections with other arts. The course aims to familiarize students with the terminological base of intertextual and intermedia studies in literary studies. It also seeks to develop abilities and skills in the analysis and interpretation of a literary work, considering its intertextual and interartistic interactions. The course encourages students to explore the works of literary critics and scholars in related disciplines, describing approaches to the analysis of a literary work within the framework of semiotics. It further emphasizes tracing the evolution of perspectives in literary studies, moving from intertextual and interartistic studies to intermedial studies. The course is designed to explore the reception of other arts by literature, the connections between different artistic phenomena, and the universality of imagery through the use of words. It involves employing a comparative approach to analyze specific literary works, the creative styles of writers, and their synthesis of various forms of literature, including the exploration of the latest hybrid forms of literature. Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Educational activities during the semester: oral and written response, comments, participation in the discussion, creative task (essay, review, literary analysis), abstract task (summary, abstract of a scientific work, presentation), control work with open answers, exam. Teaching methods: lecture, seminar, independent work.
Assessment methods and criteria
The final assessment is through an exam. Throughout the semester, a student can accumulate minimum of 36 and maximum of 60 points. The assessment criteria include oral answers and participation in discussions (minimum 1 / maximum 3 points), a creative task (minimum 3 / maximum 5 points), and an abstract task (minimum 3 / maximum 5 points). Additionally, a student can score a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 8 points for a modular test. The exam itself is graded on a scale of minimum 24 to maximum 40 points. The grading scale is as follows:""Excellent"" – 90–100 points, ""Good"" – 75–89 points, ""Satisfactory"" – 60–74 points, ""Unsatisfactory"" – 0–59 points.
