Course content
The aim of the academic discipline is to further acquaint students with the fundamentals of literary creativity, specifically the theory and practice of playwriting. This involves understanding the logic of dramatic genres, mastering the basic laws of dramaturgy, expressing personal ideas in the artistic form of literary works, and developing practical playwriting skills as the foundation for theatrical performance. The course is taught over one semester as part of the "Workshop of Literary Creativity" educational program, closely linked to courses such as "Screenplay as Literary Creativity" and "Theory and Practice of Editing." It is focused on working with artistic language as material for expressing the form and content of a dramatic work by a writer – a participant in literary and theatrical communication. The discipline includes both practical sessions and independent work aimed at studying practical guides, critically reading contemporary plays, and creative playwriting assignments. Throughout the course, students learn the secrets of constructing dramaturgy, edit their own writing, attend masterclasses by playwrights, directors, and actors, and engage in the initial performance realization of their texts.
