Learning outcomes
PLO 10. To know the norms of the literaryArabic and French languages and be able to apply them in practical activities. PLO 11. To know the principles, technologies and methods of creating oral and written texts of various genres and styles in the national and foreign (Arabic and French) languages. PLO 12. To analyze Arabic linguistic units, determine their interaction and characterize linguistic phenomena and processes that cause them. PLO 18. To have skills in managing complex actions or projects when solving complex problems in the professional field activities in the field of Arabic Studies, as well as translation activities, and to be responsible for making decisions in the unpredictable conditions. PLO 20. To demonstrate basic knowledge of translation theory, basic theoretical and practical problems of translation studies in the aspect of a specific pair of languages (Arabic and Ukrainian).

Successful mastering of the disciplines: "Oriental language: advanced level", "Basics of translation theory", " Basics of translation practice", "Translation practice".
Course content
The goal of the discipline is to improve and develop students' skills in performing oral and written Ukrainian-Arabic translation based on knowledge of the basic principles of the general and partial theory of translation.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The discipline provides only practical classes, aimed at further development of students’ skills in oral and written two-way translation. Completion of homework and translation is mandatory. Control from the teacher's side is carried out by means of an oral questioning and organizing written tasks, tests, lexical dictations, modular control works.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semestral assessment is based on: oral responses, written works, lexical dictations, and translation exercises – 24/40 points, modular control works – 12/20 points. Summarizing evaluation in the form of exam is max. 40 / min. 24 points (60% of minimum required quantity); the exam is conducted in a written form and includes: 1) written translation of an unfamiliar texts from Arabic into Ukrainian; 2) written translation of an unfamiliar texts from Ukrainian into Arabic. Students who scored less than 36 points in total during the semester are not allowed to take the exam.
