Learning outcomes
PLO 1. To communicate freely on professional issues with specialists and non-specialists in national and foreign languages (Arabic and French) orally and in writing, use them to organize effective intercultural communication.
PLO 5. To cooperate with colleagues, representatives of other cultures and religions, adherents of different political views, etc.
PLO 9. To characterize the dialectal and social varieties of the Arabic language, describe the sociolinguistic situation in the countries of the Arab East.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful mastering of the disciplines “The Arabic language: basic level”, “The Arabic language: intermediate level”, “Basics of translation practice of Arabic”, “Basics of translation theory of Arabic”; knowledge of linguistic terminology and basic laws of language development (from the course "Basics of Linguistics").
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to acquaint students with the lexical and grammatical features of Arabic texts from the field of business communication, to teach students to correctly use all linguistic means inherent in the official and business style of the Arabic language, to translate and draft professional documents competently. The discipline belongs to the block of disciplines of the student's free choice and has a practical direction.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The discipline provides only practical classes, designed for active work of students in the classroom and aimed at the development of Arabic written and oral communication skills in the business sphere. Self-study of students includes completion of homework and translation exercises. Control from the teacher's side is carried out by means of oral questioning and organization of written tasks, tests, lexical dictations, modular test papers.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semestral assessment is based on: oral responses, written works, and lexical dictations – 24/40 points, modular control works – 12/20 points. Summarizing evaluation in the form of exam is max. 40 / min. 24 points (60% of minimum required quantity); the exam is conducted in written and oral forms, and proposes: 1) to translate clichés and sentences from the field of business correspondence; 2) translation of a business letter from Arabic to Ukrainian; 3) writing a letter in Arabic. Students who scored less than 36 points in total during the semester are not allowed to take the exam.
