            PLO 1. Communicate freely on professional issues with specialists and non-specialists in national and foreign languages orally and in writing, use them to organize effective intercultural communication.
PLO 9. Characterize the dialectal and social varieties of the Ukrainian language, describe the sociolinguistic situation.
PLO 10. Know the norms of the literary language and be able to apply them in practical activities.
PLO 11. Know the principles, technologies and methods of creating oral and written texts of various genres and styles in national and foreign (foreign) languages.
PLO 12. Analyze linguistic units, determine their interaction and characterize linguistic phenomena and processes that cause them.

            Prerequisites and co-requisites
        
        
            Know:
• the general structure of the modern Ukrainian language;
• units of phonetic, lexical, morphological, syntactic levels of the Ukrainian language;
• functions of units of structural levels of the Ukrainian language;
• basic information (from the school educational course) about the lexical system of the language, the main classifications of the vocabulary, the structure of the dictionary article, the peculiarities of phraseology; human anatomy and physiology, as well as to have elementary ideas about the physical nature of sound.
Be able:
• express one's own thoughts and judgments;
• working with teaching and methodical manuals;
• searching for information in scientific sources recommended for processing;
• analysis and comparison of language phenomena;
• practical application of acquired knowledge (for preparing oral presentations, writing abstracts, modular control papers, etc.).
        
    
            Course content
        
        
            The educational discipline consists of two modules: Module 1. Lexicology of the modern Ukrainian language. The vocabulary of the Ukrainian language is studied by its origin, by the sphere of use, the active and passive composition of the vocabulary of the modern Ukrainian literary language, the description of the relevant lexical units in lexicographic sources. In Module 2. The phonetics of the modern Ukrainian language is outlined, students get acquainted with the basic principles of phonetic and phonemic transcription, the articulatory-acoustic nature of sound units, the techniques of the experimental-phonetic method of research, analyze the changes of sounds in the speech flow, their typology, causes and conditions of occurrence, options interaction, phonological interpretation of sound changes, in particular through the lens of language history.

Activities: answer to the practical session, intermediate control work, analytical report (report-analysis of scientific literature), tests, final control work.
        
    
            Assessment methods and criteria
        
        
            The semester final grade is formed by the points received by the student in the process of performing the declared types and forms of education, and the points received on the exam, the maximum distribution is carried out according to the following algorithm: 60 points (60%) - semester control and 40 points (40%) - exam).
