Prerequisites and co-requisites
Students who have completed all the requirements of the curriculum are allowed to take the comprehensive final examination.
Course content
The structure of the examination card:
1. Theoretical question.
2. Written translation of a specialised text from English into Ukrainian (up to 1800 characters) and its translation analysis.
3. Consecutive interpretation from English into Ukrainian of a segment of monologue speech (up to 5 minutes) using notetaking techniques.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The examination is held in one day. 50 minutes are allocated for the preparation of a theoretical question and written translation. Consecutive interpretation is performed by a student without prior preparation.
The student answers the theoretical question in English, gives arguments to support his/her ideas, as well as examples to demonstrate certain concepts, suggests solutions to translation problems. A student answers the questions of the head and members of the State Examination Board.
Students are allowed to use dictionaries during the translation preparation.
The consecutive interpretation from English into Ukrainian of a segment of monologue speech using notetaking techniques is done after a student has answered a theoretical question.
Assessment methods and criteria
According to the structure of the examination card, each type of an examination task is assessed by a set number of points (a maximum of 100 points in total).
A student can get a maximum of 30 points for answering a theoretical question.
For written translation of a specialised text from English into Ukrainian and its translation analysis a student can receive a maximum of 35 points.
For consecutive interpretation from English into Ukrainian of a segment of monologue speech using notetaking techniques a student can get a maximum of 35 points.

1-59 points «unsatisfactory»
60-74 points «satisfactory»
75-89 points «good»
90-100 points «excellent»
