Prerequisites and co-requisites
The student should have a knowledge of the German language at a level not lower than B1 and the Ukrainian language at a level not lower than C1. Additionally, they should be familiar with the system of the German and Ukrainian languages and possess skills in comparing lexical units at the level of one and two languages.
Course content
The aim of the discipline "Comparative Lexicology of the First Foreign Language and Ukrainian Language" is to familiarize students with the conceptual apparatus of general and comparative lexicology, the directions of contemporary domestic and Western European research, comparative description of the lexical systems of the German and Ukrainian languages, and establishing types of interlingual lexico-semantic relations. The discipline involves introducing students to the basic concepts of general and comparative lexicology, the main directions of contemporary domestic and international research on the lexical systems of the German and Ukrainian languages, types of dictionaries and principles of their compilation, analysis of paradigmatic relations in the lexico-semantic systems of the German and Ukrainian languages, methods of enriching vocabulary, acquaintance with sociolinguistic and functional aspects of lexical composition stratification, and comparison of phraseological systems in the German and Ukrainian languages.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, practical classes, independent work: preparing a report, compiling a glossary.
Assessment methods and criteria
Knowledge assessment is conducted according to the ECTS system, which involves a two-level evaluation of the acquired material. This includes assessing theoretical preparation, which constitutes 30% of the overall grade, and evaluating practical preparation, which constitutes 70% of the overall grade. The semester score is determined by the points earned by the student through mastering the material from all topics of the content module and completing independent and individual tasks (compilation of a glossary, presentation). The final assessment is conducted in the form of an exam. The exam structure includes an oral response to a theoretical question, completion of practical tasks, and commented translation of sentences.
