Learning outcomes
PLO 3. To apply modern methods and techniques, namely informational, in order to perform successful and effective professional activity and guarantee the quality of research in a specific linguistic field. PLO 7. To analyze, compare and classify various schools and approaches in Linguistic Studies. PLO 8. To assess the historical legacy and new achievements of Literature Studies. PLO 9. To characterize theoretical principles (concepts, categories, principles, basic concepts, etc.) and applied aspects of the chosen linguistic specialization. PLO 11. To perform a scholarly analysis of language, speech and literature material, interpret and structure it based on appropriate methodological principles, sum up the results of individually processed data.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
The theory of translation is studied after the students have mastered the courses Introduction to translation studies, Comparative Grammar, Comparative lexicology, (native and foreign language); Terminology, Scientific and technical translation, Legal translation; Computer lexicography and translation and is based on the knowledge acquired by them in these courses, as well as on the knowledge and skills gained by students in practical classes in foreign language and Ukrainian language courses, stylistics of the Ukrainian language and practical classes in the practice of translation (general and specialized)
Course content
The goal of the discipline is a comprehensive study of the laws of translation from French to Ukrainian of texts of various genres, understanding the key categories of modern translation studies, mastering the basic methodological principles of original text analysis and the application of translation transformations and translation techniques in view of the communicative situation, lexical and stylistic parameters of the text, its pragmatic dominant, definition of lingual and extralingual factors relevant for translation.

Assessment methods and criteria
The discipline ends with a test. The final grade is formed by the points obtained by the student in the process of performing the indicated types and forms of education and obtained on the exam. The maximum distribution is carried out as follows: 60 points - during the semester and 40 points (20%) - the exam. If a student scored less than 24 points on the exam, they are not added to the semester grade, regardless of the number of points received during the semester, and only the number of points received during the semester is indicated in the column "final grade in the discipline" in the examination report. Student evaluation forms: • answers in lecturer and seminars – 5 points • preparation of essays/presentations – 4/5 points, • intermediate control - thematic control work - 10 / 15 points.
