Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Before starting the course, students should know (according to the level of students of the 1st year) the history of early civilizations, antiquity and the Middle Ages, know the basics of the material culture of early civilizations, the main ancient texts.
2. Be able to process and analyze mythological, cultural and historical texts, compare different cultural and civilizational types of development, mythological and historical texts.
3. Possess elementary skills of scientific research and information management, critical attitude to historical, cultural and mythological texts, events and phenomena, use of foreign language professional sources.
Course content
The discipline "History of Mythology" belongs to the list of mandatory disciplines. The subject of the discipline is the theory and functions of myth, the history of the development of mythological systems of the most significant civilizational and cultural formations in world history, the meaning of myth as meta-artistic thinking and understanding the essence of socio-mythological constructions of modern socio-cultural and political practice. Myth-consciousness is historically the first type of social consciousness, which to this day forms the functional and meaningful basis of thinking at the individual and, especially, group and collective levels. Understanding Myth as the most profound stage of the development of mentality, spirituality and culture of mankind means entering the "laboratory" where human consciousness, culture, and identity were formed and continue to be nourished. The theory and functions of myth, the history of the development of mythological systems of the most ancient and ancient civilizations, the meaning of myth as meta-artistic thinking and understanding it as the cultural-historical basis of ALL cultures of the world is extremely important. This is the scientific toolkit that will allow the modern researcher/practitioner not only to understand the foundations of the cultural development of mankind, the archetypal structure of thinking, the cultural codes of the archaic, but also to learn to understand the essence of modern artistic, socio-cultural and political practice. Today's myth is the basis of political, historical, gender, advertising, mass and other communications, and we will learn to distinguish and interpret it.

Assessment methods and criteria
Examination evaluation takes place in written form. The ticket consists of 2 questions, each of which is evaluated on a scale of 20 points, which gives a total of 40 points for the exam. A student is not admitted to the exam if he scored less than 20 points during the semester. To receive an overall positive grade in the discipline, the grade for the exam cannot be less than 24 points. In the event that a student scored less than 24 points on the exam, they are not added to the semester grade (regardless of the number of points obtained during the academic period). In the examination report, "0" is entered in the "exam/exam points" column, and only the number of points received during the study period is transferred to the "resulting grade" column.
Thus, the final grade for the discipline (minimum 60, maximum 100 points) consists of the sum of the number of points for the study period (minimum 36, maximum 60 points) and the examination paper (minimum 24, maximum 40 points).
