Learning outcomes
PLO 5. Operate with the basic categories and concepts of the specialty.
PLO 13. To know and understand the modern philological and didactic principles of teaching Turkic language and literature and English, language norms, socio-cultural situation of the Turkic language development, features of the use of language units in a particular context, language discourse of fiction and modernity.
PLO 19. Compare linguistic and literary facts, phenomena, original works in Turkish and Ukrainian translations of foreign language literary texts, identify their similarities and differences.
PLO 22. Knows, understands and demonstrates the ability to implement the theoretical and methodological principles of teaching Turkish language and literature and English in basic secondary school.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Prior to taking this course, students should know the theoretical foundations of general linguistics, the characteristics of the historical development of the Turkish language, and Turkish grammar at the A1-2 level.
2. Be able to communicate in Turkish at A1-2 level; process foreign language sources, including Turkish-language ones; master new information within the discipline; analyze the lexical composition of the first Turkic language with its further use in speech usage; characterize and evaluate linguistic phenomena in the context of different genres; plan and evaluate their own work; use interactive and multimedia tools.
3. Possess basic skills of working with dictionaries; conducting scientific research; systematizing data obtained from various professional sources; critical attitude to the analyzed phenomena; use of foreign language resources.
Course content
Classes are held in the format of lectures and seminars. The course consists of two content parts. The course covers the lexical meaning of words, the phenomena of synonymy, antonymy and homonymy in the Turkish language, lexical and semantic groups and fields, borrowings in the modern Turkish language, phraseology as a branch of Turkish linguistics and the history of Turkish lexicography.
Content part 1. involves the study of the following issues: unambiguous and polysemous words, primary and secondary meanings of words, terminological vocabulary, professionalisms and neologisms in the lexical composition of the STM.
Content part 2 is devoted to the analysis of borrowings (Arabisms, Persisms, internationalisms) in the lexical composition of the TS, active and passive vocabulary, and the characteristics of translated and terminological dictionaries of the Turkish language.
The course ends with a test.

Assessment methods and criteria
Knowledge control is carried out according to the ECTS system, which provides for a two-level assessment of the material learned, in particular, an assessment of theoretical training, which accounts for 30% of the total grade, and an assessment of practical training, which accounts for 70% of the total grade.
