Learning outcomes
PLO 7. Understand the main problems of philology and approaches to their solution using appropriate methods and innovative approaches. PLO 8. To know and understand the language system, the general properties of literature as an art of words, the history of Turkish and English languages and literatures and be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities. PLO 10. To know the norms of the literary language and be able to apply them in practice. PLO 13. Analyze and interpret works of Ukrainian and foreign fiction and oral folklore, determine their specificity and place in the literary process (according to the chosen specialization). PLO 15. Carry out linguistic, literary and special philological analysis of texts of different styles and genres.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
To successfully master the discipline "Folklore and Ancient Turkish Literature"; to know the most significant stages in the development of the history of Turkish literature until the thirteenth century; to know the theoretical foundations of Turkish literature before the Islamic period, the types of genres; to have basic skills in analyzing poems and stories in both oral folk literature and works of ashugas and court poets of that period.
Course content
"Folklore and Ancient Turkish Literature" is considered as an academic discipline that analyzes the main approaches to the periodization of the history of Turkish literature; studies literary trends, their concepts and representatives; is able to apply the results of the acquired knowledge of the history of Turkish literature in further professional activities; analyzes the phenomena of the literary process in the world and national planes. The purpose of the discipline is to form students' initial ideas in the field of Turkish literature; to gain an understanding of the main patterns of its formation and historical development, its position in the system of world literature and its relations with other literary traditions at different historical stages, as well as to get acquainted with the history of the Turkish literary process, its genre specificity before the Islamic period and the works of writers of the Ottoman period.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The semester program of the discipline includes the following forms of learning: lectures, seminars, and independent work. Semester evaluation of such types of work as individual presentations, additions, discussion of problematic issues, participation in discussions, individual tasks (fixed presentations and defense of presentations, creative works, etc.), performance of control works is carried out during seminars, which are scheduled online or offline, and module control work. Assessment methods and criteria
Knowledge control is carried out according to the ECTS system, which provides for a two-level assessment of the material learned, in particular, an assessment of theoretical training, which accounts for 40% of the total grade, and an assessment of practical training, which accounts for 60% of the total grade. Assessment of semester work: 1. Oral response, additions, participation in seminar discussions: 19 - 32 points. 2. Analysis of works in writing: 8 - 14 points. 3. Writing abstracts (up to 3 pages), 2a. presentation of the report (10 minutes): 10 - 14 points. 4. Writing a module test: 23 - 40 points.
