Learning outcomes
PLO7. Understand the main problems of philology and approaches to their solution using appropriate methods and innovative approaches. PLO8. To know and understand the language system, the general properties of literature as an art of words, the history of the Arabic (Hindi / Persian) language and literature, and be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities. PLO15. To carry out linguistic, literary and special philological analysis of texts of different styles and genres. PLO16. To know and understand the basic concepts, theories and concepts of the chosen philological specialization, to be able to apply them in professional activities. PLO17. To collect, analyze, systematize and interpret the facts of language and speech and use them to solve complex problems in specialized areas of professional activity and/or study.

Course content
The content of the course is the formation of knowledge about the diachronic theory of linguistics as a system of scientific branches - genetic and evolutionary linguistics. The course presents material on the diachronic component of the basics of linguistics as an academic discipline; clarifies its difference from the scientific discipline of the same name; highlights the content of the categories "diachrony", "history", "formation", "evolution"; introduces the division of historical linguistics into genetic and evolutionary; defines the basic concepts, concepts, patterns of historical linguistics, knowledge of which is necessary for further mastering the specialty. The course is part of the cycle of compulsory academic disciplines and is an integral part of the complex discipline "Introduction to Philology", which consists of four parts: Part 1: Latin (2 credits); Part 2. Fundamentals of Linguistics: Synchrony (2 credits); Part 3. Fundamentals of Linguistics: Diachrony (2 credits); Part 4. Introduction to Chinese Philology (2 credits).

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course provides for the following forms of learning organization: lectures and seminars conducted using interactive teaching methods, and independent work. The main types of work and, accordingly, the objects of semester control are: oral answers, participation in discussions, test assignments, and module work. The detailed planned educational activities and teaching methods are presented in the discipline's work program published on the official website of the Educational and Research Institute of Philology.
Assessment methods and criteria
Knowledge control is carried out according to the ECTS system, which provides for a two-level assessment of the material learned, in particular, an assessment of theoretical training, which accounts for 40% of the total grade, and an assessment of practical training, which accounts for 60% of the total grade. Assessment of semester work: Assessment of semester work: 1. Oral answers, participation in discussions: 12 - 20 points. 2. Test tasks: 6 - 10 points. 3. Modular works: 18 - 30 points. 4. Exam: 24 - 40 points.
