Prerequisites and co-requisites
Knowledge of: - the main trends in the development of modern linguistics, scientific paradigms and research methods and the ability to illustrate the presentation of theoretical positions; - basic theories and models of communication; structure of the communication process, principles of successful and effective communication, strategies and tactics for achieving the goal of communication, history of rhetoric as an art of eloquence and science; - rhetorical potential of phonetic, lexical and grammatical means of the English language. Ability to: - fluency in English (at C1 level) for the purpose of reasoned and convincing expression of one's own point of view on the proposed topic, problem, professional situation.
Course content
The purpose of the final exam in English is to test and evaluate the programmatic learning outcomes, including scientific, theoretical and professional training of students, as well as their level of professional competence in such areas:

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The exam is a comprehensive written and oral test and is conducted in English. Students may use monolingual dictionaries during the exam. The time for completing the written task is 60 minutes (rhetorical analysis of the text, translation of a fragment of the text into Ukrainian and a translation commentary). The exam paper contains 3 questions. The first question involves working with original texts of up to 350 words in length in order to perform rhetorical analysis of the text and linguistic analysis of the proposed linguistic phenomena. The second question involves translating a fragment of the text and performing a translation analysis of your own translation. The third question is an oral interview (without prior preparation) within the framework of the predefined topics of the courses "Communication Strategies", "General Theoretical English", "Academic and Business Speaking and Translation".
Assessment methods and criteria
Formation of the exam score. The level of master's training at the exam is assessed by a 100-point system: a graduate can score a maximum of 100 points and a minimum positive score of 60 points. The score for the comprehensive final exam is formed by calculating the arithmetic mean score for all three answers of the exam paper multiplied by 10 (coefficient). The time for completing the written task is 60 minutes (rhetorical analysis of the text, linguistic analysis of the linguistic phenomena of the text). An oral interview on the proposed topic is conducted without prior preparation of the student. The exam paper contains three questions: 1. Theoretical question. 2. Rhetorical analysis of the text №1. 3. Translation of a fragment of the text №1.
