Learning outcomes
Master the basic knowledge, ability to read and write Chinese characters in Japanese and idioms. Know the value of Chinese characters in Japanese as a system. Know how to work with Chinese characters in Japanese. Be able to read and write: the radicals of Chinese characters in Japanese, Chinese characters in Japanese, idioms. Be able to exchange ideas with students in groups and organize an exhibition of calligraphy.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Certificate of complete general secondary education; 2. Successful mastering of the discipline "Japanese Language: Basic Level" (1st semester).
Course content
Work with practical material: 1) the radicals of Chinese characters in Japanese, 2) Chinese characters in Japanese, 3) idioms. Consideration of the following main issues: 1) Chinese characters in modern Japanese and problems, 2) Rules for writing Chinese characters, 3) Classification of Chinese characters, 4) Historical development of Chinese characters, 5) The function of Chinese character-based idioms in Japanese, 6) Calligraphy, 7) Types and compositions of Chinese character-based idioms in Japanese.

Forms of training: practical classes, lectures, project work, self-study. Teaching methods: explanation of new material, active listening, participation in discussions, work in groups, discussion of results.
