Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastering of the disciplines "Chinese language: intermediate level", "Basics of translation practice", "Theoretical grammar of the first oriental language", "Translation practice", "General course of a Western European language", "Basics of linguistics: synchrony", "Basics of linguistics: diachrony" etc.
2. Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of translation studies, linguistics and grammar of the modern Chinese language
3. Possession of sentence parsing skills, knowledge of translation transformations in two-way translation from and into Chinese.
4. Ability to correctly construct syntactic sentence structures in translation from Chinese to Ukrainian and English.
Course content
The formation of scientific ideas in the field of the syntax of the Chinese language, the system of parts of speech and sentence members, features and varieties of simple and complex sentences in Chinese modern syntax. Mastering the effective and key methods of translating Chinese text into English and Ukrainian, taking into account the traditional linguistic, grammatical, syntactic features of the language structure, and the national and cultural features of the thinking of their speakers. The study discipline "Syntax of the Chinese language: translation studies aspect" is one of the components of the comprehensive training of the specialty "Philology (Oriental languages and literatures)" under the program "Chinese language and literature and translation, English language", elective block "Chinese studies: philology and translation" . Two content modules are defined within the discipline: Module 1. Theoretical foundations of Chinese syntax and Module 2. Syntax and Chinese-English translation. Teaching and assessment languages: Ukrainian, Chinese.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course provides for the following forms of training organization: lecture and seminar classes conducted using interactive teaching methods, and independent work. The main types of work and, accordingly, the objects of semester control are: the answer to the seminar lesson, control work in the form of a test and a course project. Detailed planned educational events and teaching methods are presented in the working program of the discipline, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
Assessment methods and criteria
Knowledge control is carried out according to the ECTS system, which provides for a two-level assessment of the learned material, in particular theoretical training, which is 40% of the total assessment, and practical training, which is 60% of the total assessment. Semester number of points are formed by points received by the student for classroom work and for independent work; As a result: in the maximum dimension of 100 points, in the minimum dimension of 60 points. The discipline ends with a credit, which is exhibited based on the results of the student's work throughout the semester and does not provide for additional assessment measures. Evaluation criteria are presented in the working program of the discipline, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
