Learning outcomes
PLO 11. Know the principles, technologies and techniques of oral and written texts of different genres and styles creation in Ukrainian, classical and a foreign language. PLO 12. Analyze language units, determine their interaction, and characterize linguistic phenomena and the underlying processes. PLO 13. Analyze and interpret works of the Ancient literature, determine their peculiarities and place in the literary process. PLO 15. Perform linguistic, literary and specific philological analysis of texts of different styles and genres in Ancient Greek and Latin. PLO 22. Realize the role and place of classical languages and literatures in the context of the European linguistic and cultural space, in the strategies of the development of the contemporary academic paradigm and modern civilization.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1) successful mastering of the academic disciplines "Introduction to Literary Studies", "History of Ancient Greek Literature" and "History of Roman Literature"; "Ancient mythology", "Culture of Ancient Greece and Rome", "Latin language", "Ancient Greek language". 2) knowledge of general information about the historical and cultural context of antiquity, the basics of literary and linguistic terminology, the basics of Ancient Greek and Roman mythology, the basics of grammar and syntax of Latin and Ancient Greek languages; 3) possession of elementary skills of analysis and interpretation of texts.
Course content
The purpose of the course is to acquaint students with the ancient sacred texts, their further influence on the suggestion in sacred communication beyond the antiquity. Abstract of the academic discipline. Within the scope of the discipline, the essential parameters of a sacred text are considered, the concept of "ritual" is analyzed as a non-verbal component of sacred communication; sacred space and time in the context of ancient consciousness; structural-systemic and communicative-pragmatic parameters of the sacred texts and their significance in the study of suggestive potential; implementation of the magical function of language in the process of language communication.

Lectures, participation in discussions, a report with a presentation on a chosen topic, a test, independent work and a creative task, an exam.
Assessment methods and criteria
Final assessment: exam. The semester number of points is formed by the points received by the student in the process of learning the material from the entire educational course. All types of work for the semester have as a result: ● in the maximum dimension of 60 points, ● a minimum of 36 points. The final assessment is conducted in the form of an exam; the exam is conducted in the form of a written work with open answers to two theoretical questions, each of which is evaluated with a maximum of 20 points A detailed description of the forms, criteria and organization of assessment is given in the working course program, published on the official website of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Philology.
