Learning outcomes
• The student should know the nature, sources and trends of international relations and foreign policy of states, theoretical debates on international relations and world politics.
• The student should be able to analyse critically the global trends and their impact on international relations and foreign policy of states.
• The student should be able to analyse and assess the problems of international and national security, international conflicts, approaches, ways and mechanisms of securing in international area and foreign policy of states.
• The student should collect, process and analyse information on international relations, world politics and foreign policy of states.
• The student should be able to assess international and foreign policy cases, providing approaches to tackle risks and problems.

The basic knowledge of history and theory of international relations, methods of political analysis
Course content
Module I. Topic 1. The EU in the contemporary international system. Evolution of European integration process. Topic 2. The current debates on EU reforming. Topic 3. The establishment of the EU Common Foreign and Security Policy. Evolution of the political-military integration in the EU.
Module 2. Topic 4. The EU enlargement policy, relations with the EU candidate countries. Topic 5. European Neighbourhood Policy and Eastern Partnership as the tools of the EU foreign policy strategy. Topic 6. The EU relations with the great powers (the USA, China).

Assessment methods and criteria
The course consists of 2 modules. Forms of assessment: the level of achievement of all planned learning outcomes is determined by the results of the student's activities during the seminars, tests and credit. The student is supposed to pass by earning a score of 60 or higher, the maximum score is 100.
