Course content
This educational discipline is devoted to the study of general methods of processing geographic information and data, principles and modern methods of solving the main problems in the field of knowledge of natural geography. The discipline is aimed at the formation of special professional, social and personal competencies in students, the accumulation of knowledge about the possibility of critical thinking, analysis and synthesis, the ability to search, process and analyze information and data from various sources, the ability to identify, formulate and solve problems in the field of natural geography. Separate components of the discipline are the study of general approaches and special methods of studying scientific publications (articles in specialized publications, monographs, etc.), cartographic materials, processing the results of field and laboratory research, data of remote sensing of the Earth as the main sources of obtaining reliable information about the environment.
The functional block of the discipline involves the mastery of such components as the ability to apply basic knowledge of natural sciences, the ability to apply simple quantitative and qualitative methods in the study of geosystems, the ability to independently investigate and analyze spatio-temporal changes in the parameters of geocomponents for the purposes of successful further professional activity.

Assessment methods and criteria
Performance of creative analytical and calculation works, differentiated assessment. The recommended minimum for admission is 30 points. For students who scored a total of less than 30 points (recommended minimum), writing essays on missed or insufficiently mastered topics is a mandatory condition for admission to differentiated credit.
The final evaluation in the form of a differentiated credit is conducted in a written format. The maximum number of points is 40, the minimum number of points that can be added to semester marks is 20 (50% of the maximum number of points assigned to the differential assessment).
