Prerequisites and co-requisites
1) Successful completion of courses: "Introduction to geoinformatics", "Basics of GIS and databases", "Topography with the basics of geodesy", "Digital cartography". 2) Knowledge of theoretical and practical foundations of geoinformation systems and technologies, databases, topography. 3) Possession of working skills in the ArcGIS software environment.
Course content
The course consists of two content modules. The first module is devoted to the study of algorithmic approaches to determine the suitability of the territory according to many criteria. Two main approaches are considered: the Boolean suitability method, which implements strict requirements for the realization of selected criteria, and the area suitability modeling method using points or ratings, which is a compromise approach and can determine the realization of the relevant suitability criteria in percentages. The second module is devoted to the theoretical foundations of the formation of methods for determining the suitability of territories, which is the theory of fuzzy sets. The basis of this theory is a natural generalization of the usual set for the case when, instead of the binary nature of the function, it can take on any values on the segment from zero to one. Such a generalization is the mathematical basis of a fitness model using points or ratings. The discipline "GIS in territory management" is one of the basic disciplines of the practical direction, which forms the skills of analyzing the suitability of the territory according to many criteria using the toolkit of geoinformation systems.

Assessment methods and criteria
The course includes 2 meaningful educational modules. Classes are held in the form of lectures and practical work. The discipline ends with a test. Final evaluation in the credit form (test form): the maximum number of points on the credit - 40 points, the minimum number of points that are added to the semester ones - 24 points (60% of the maximum number of points assigned to the credit test). Students who scored a total of less points than the critical calculation minimum of 20 points are not allowed to take the credit test. The recommended minimum for admission to the credit test is 36 points.
