Learning outcomes
1. To know the methodological aspects of coverage and creation of cartographic works PR01 PR05. General provisions for the development and editing of socio-geographical maps PR01. Ways and means of socio-economic mapping PR04 PR07 2. Develop legends of socio-economic maps PR04 PR07. Develop scales and select methods of cartographic representation PR04. Select color design of maps and place maps in GIS PR05 PR15. 3. Development of students' practical skills in creating cartographic works, research and group solving of actual problems using appropriate methods and techniques of obtaining, storing and performing primary data processing with the help of modern technical means in the form of models ПР01 ПР05 ПР07 ПР15. 4. Demonstrate an understanding of personal responsibility for professional and managerial decisions, given recommendations that can affect the quality of creation of cartographic works PR01 PR05 PR15.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1) know the basics of cartography: methods and means of mapping, types of maps, types of legends, history of mapping; 2) be able to search and analyze statistical and thematic information for creating maps; 3) have the skills to work in modern GIS programs.
Course content
The course consists of three content modules. The first is devoted to the study of the conceptual and methodological foundations of mapping socio-economic phenomena and processes: the principles of development and classification of socio-economic maps, methods and means of mapping, features of mapping social phenomena, principles and approaches to editing socio-economic maps are revealed. The second module reveals the topics and methods of creating economic maps: agriculture, industry, transport and communication maps. The third module considers the subject and methodology of developing infrastructure maps: industrial and social. This is the creation of maps of the population and demographic situation, maps of service, science, education, culture, health care. Historical, political-administrative and political maps are considered separately. For various types of maps, the methodology of their development and construction of a cartographic image, the development of a legend, and the creation of a design are outlined. The principles of generalization and editing are revealed.

Assessment methods and criteria
- semester assessment: 1. Modular control work 1: RN 1.1–1.4, 2.1, 2.2 – 10 points. 2. Modular control work 2: RN 1.5–1.6, 2.3 – 10 points. 3. Laboratory works: RN 1.4 – 4.1 – 30 points. 4. Independent work: grade 1.1 - 1.6 - 10 points. - final evaluation: in the form of credit - The final grade from the educational component, the final form of control of which is the exam, is defined as the sum of grades (points) for all successfully assessed study results of 60 points and the exam of 40 points. Scores below the minimum threshold level are not added to the final score. - To obtain a positive final grade (60 points and above) it is mandatory to complete all laboratory works and modular control works.
