Course content
Features of therapeutic nutrition (diet therapy) - the use for therapeutic or prophylactic purposes of specially formulated diets and diets for patients (with acute diseases or exacerbations of chronic diseases).
Close to the concept of therapeutic nutrition is dietary nutrition, which means mainly the nutrition of people with chronic diseases in remission, eg. organized for able-bodied people in sanatoriums and dietary canteens. The list of requirements for medical nutrition (as well as for dietary nutrition) coincides with that for nutrition. However, taking into account the nature of the disease in the short or long term may change the requirements for energy value and chemical composition of the diet, balance of nutrients, set of products and methods of their culinary processing, some organoleptic indicators of food, diet (unloading days).
