Course content
Description of the discipline (abstract). This discipline considers the structure and functions of substances that are part of dietary supplements. Attention is paid to the main tasks of modern theoretical and practical vitaminology, characterized by the functions of vitamins in the human body: metabolic role and molecular mechanisms of action of vitamins. The role of water-soluble vitamins as precursors of coenzymes is shown, their role in the metabolism of basic energy carriers is characterized. Measures to correct vitamin deficiencies and optimize the supply of vitamins to the population, as well as the need to use multivitamin and vitamin-mineral complexes for proper nutrition are justified. The role of food minerals in metabolism in the human body, the importance of complete proteins, polyunsaturated higher fatty acids are described.
