The basic knowledge about technical tools and methods of prospecting and exploration works, methods and techniques of mines excavation and drilling, calculation of mining operations will be given.

Successful mastering of the course "General Geology"

A wide range of issues related to the methodology of geological exploration, classification and use of mine workings, drilling for prospecting, exploration and mining of mineral deposits is covered in the course. Considerable attention is paid to the methods and technic of exploration work, technical aspects of mine of surface and underground excavations in different by mechanical properties of rocks and various equipment. The main technological processes of mining and drilling and the main techniques, types and methods of geological logging of exploration mines and wells are considered.

Lectures and practical work, independent work of the student

The control is carried out according to the modular rating system and involves 6 practical works (where students must demonstrate the quality of acquired knowledge and solve problems using the methods and tools outlined by a lecturer) and 2 written tests. During the semester, a student can receive a maximum of 60 (minimum 36) rating points. The final quiz is conducted as an exam, where the maximum score is 40 points and marginal score - 24 points.
