Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. To know the theoretical foundations of taxonomy and nomenclature, morphology and anatomy of higher plants, decorative qualities of woody plants of natural flora, the basics of soil science and climatology (within the disciplines "Plant Biology, "Latin language and professional terminology", "Vegetation of the globe", "Soil science and soil microbiology", "Biochemistry of plants", "Phytoecology of landscapes", "Meteorology and climatology", "Dendrology", "Educational practice in plant biology"). 2. To be able to recognize the main forest-forming species in nature, to characterize the main patterns of plant distribution. 3. Possess basic skills of conducting field research in nature and determining the boundaries of forest plant communities.
Course content
The academic discipline "Forestry" is a mandatory academic discipline that provides comprehensive knowledge of the forest as a biogeocenosis with all its components and relationships with the environment. Students get acquainted with the main provisions of forest legislation that regulate economic activity in forests, study forest components, forestry concepts, gain an understanding of the morphological features of the tree stand, study the interaction of the forest with ecological factors, the typology of forests, acquire the ability to perform forestry description of plantations in nature, establishing the type of forest vegetation conditions, the type of forest, the type of tree stand, to carry out an analysis of the resistance of tree species to natural and anthropogenic factors and to select species of woody plants for greening urban spaces and creating forest parks in different types of forest vegetation conditions of Ukraine.
