Course content
The educational discipline "Cytogenetic bases of embryonic development" is a component of the cycle of professional training of specialists of the educational level "Bachelor" under the educational program "Biology" (specialization "Reproductive Biology"). The discipline illuminates modern ideas about the etiology and pathogenesis of chromosomal pathologies. The main stages of human and animal embryogenesis, the contribution of chromosomal disorders to human pathology at various stages of intrauterine development and in the postnatal period, mechanisms of chromosomal aberrations, methods of their detection in the proembryonic and embryonic periods, the current state and existing algorithms of prenatal diagnosis of chromosomal diseases are considered. Considerable attention is paid to the role of prenatal diagnostics as a new promising approach to understanding the peculiarities of the functional activity of the genome and its individual elements - chromosomes at the early stages of human ontogenesis.
