PR04. Understand basic terms, concepts, principles,
theories and laws in the field of biological sciences and on the borders of subject areas.
PR07. Demonstrate knowledge of structural
organization of biological systems at the molecular level

PR10. Establish patterns of interaction of the living
organisms of various forms of structural organization between
themselves, features of the influence of various factors on living organisms and assess their role in the biosphere processes of biotic transformation of matter and energy.
PR11. Analyze the forms of relationships between micro and
macroorganisms with the definition of the main directions

PR16. Choose methods, planning algorithms and
conducting field, laboratory, clinical and laboratory studies, including mathematical methods and

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Know the patterns of adaptation of plants to various biotic and abiotic factors.
2. To be able to observe the growth and development of plants in natural ecosystems, artificial phytocenoses, urban landscapes, to analyze the basic morphological, physiological reactions of plants depending on environmental conditions.
3. Have basic skills in modeling stressful situations, process analysis and work in a chemical laboratory.
Course content
"Plant Sustainability" is a discipline that provides students with a system of knowledge on stress tolerance of biological systems, focused on elucidating the mechanisms of plant resistance to various types of biotic and abiotic stressors, characterizes the concepts of stress and factors that determine the strength of its impact; investigates modifications of plant cell metabolism under non-lethal stress with the involvement of classical methods of physiology, genetic engineering and biotechnology. Studies the mechanisms of plant response to: water stress in case of drought or flooding; temperature stress in the case of low and high temperatures; chemical stress in case of heavy metal pollution. Mechanisms of local resistance of plant cells to the pathogen, hypersensitivity reaction and systemic acquired resistance.
