Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastering of the courses "Genetics", "Molecular Biology", "Biochemistry", "Cytology", "Human Genetics", as well as acquaintance with selected sections of human physiology, theory of evolution. 2. Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of chemistry, physics, molecular biology, cell biology, etc .; ability to use theoretical knowledge of these disciplines to solve practical problems. 3. Possession of basic skills in working with scientific electronic databases, scientific literature and the ability to system analysis.
Course content
The subject of the discipline "Oncogenetics" is the genetic basis of predisposition to cancer, molecular genetic mechanisms of initiation and progression of tumors. General ideas about oncological diseases, causes and mechanisms of cell transformation as a result of chemical, physical and biological carcinogens, the role of genotype in cancer are considered. Attention is paid to molecular genetic processes that are disrupted at different stages of cell malignancy, genetic control of angiogenesis and metastasis. The issues of cancer prevention and determination of individual risk of tumor formation are discussed.
