PR03. Plan, perform, analyze data and present the results of experimental research in the field of biology. PR04. Communicate orally and in writing on professional issues using scientific terms accepted in the professional environment, in national and foreign languages. PR08. Know and understand the basic terms, concepts, theories and laws in the field of biological sciences and at the border of subject areas. PR11. Understand the structural organization of biological systems at the molecular level. PR13. To know the mechanisms of preservation, implementation and transmission of genetic information and their importance in evolutionary processes. PR19. Apply methods of determining structural and functional characteristics of biological systems at different levels of the organization in practical activities.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastering of the scientific and theoretical base of academic disciplines taught to students in the eighth semester in parallel with the course "Laboratory Workshop on Genetics". 2. Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology, cytology and histology, zoology, biophysics, etc. 3. Possession of basic methods of statistical processing of results. 4. Knowledge of the basic principles of basic biological methods.
Course content
The course aims to enable students on the basis of acquired theoretical knowledge to master the basic methods of genetic research for course and final qualifying works, analyze and interpret experimental data, conduct statistical processing of results, work with scientific literature and electronic databases. During the laboratory workshop students acquire basic skills of laboratory experiments, get acquainted with modern methods of studying Drosophila chromosomes, genotoxicological methods and methods of monitoring the gene pool of populations, modern approaches to working with data sets.
