Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful mastery of the course "General Hydrology"; "General chemistry". Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of general hydrology and general chemistry. Possession of elementary hydrological concepts about water bodies, their hydrological regime, the ability to perform laboratory work in chemistry.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to form a complete system of knowledge for students on the chemical composition of natural waters that make up the Earth's hydrosphere. As a result of studying the discipline, students must acquire knowledge about the structure of the water molecule and water as a solvent; conditions for the formation of the chemical composition of natural waters as a complex solution of mineral and organic compounds; differences and interrelations of the chemical composition of various types of natural waters (atmospheric precipitation, surface water, groundwater and sea water); understanding of the requirements for water quality when it is used by different water users; issues of pollution of natural waters and its prevention.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, laboratory work, independent work, defense of independently completed works, modular control work, assessment, exam
Assessment methods and criteria
Conditions for admission to the credit/exam: the recommended minimum for admission is 36 points. For students who scored a total of less than 36 points (recommended minimum), writing essays on missed or insufficiently mastered topics is a mandatory condition for admission to the credit/exam. The final assessment in the form of a credit/exam is conducted in a written format. The maximum number of points during the credit/exam is 40, the minimum number of points added to the semester ones is 24 (60% of the maximum number of points assigned to the credit/exam). The final grade in the discipline consists of the points scored by the student based on the results of the semester control of the first and second parts and the points obtained on the credit/exam.
