• Knowledge of the development of exploration standards in the different World regions • Knowledge of the requirements for the determination of mineral reserves and resources in Ukraine and the different World regions in accordance with international standards (Committee on International Standards for Solid Minerals Reporting (CRIRSCO), in the management system of the Society of Petroleum Engineers) with the UN Framework Classification of Energy and Mineral Reserves and Resources, etc.) • Ability to determine groups of the complexity of geological structure of individual subsoil areas and assess the reliability of geological information • Ability to determine the degree of geological and technical and economic study of subsoil areas and justify the methods of prospecting and exploration, which should be carried out • Ability to use modern international standards of assessment in exploration work • Ability to generate written reports on the assessment of mineral deposits
Form of study
Prerequisites and co-requisites
It`s important • to know the basic principles of estimation and classification of resources and reserves, statistical analysis and mathematical methods in geology • to have skills in working with geological sections, large-scale maps and plans for calculating mineral reserves, spreadsheets and other data sources.
Course content
Within the framework of the discipline there is an acquaintance with the main peculiarities of geological exploration and assessment of mineral reserves in accordance with the requirements of domestic regulations and international standards. Peculiarities of application of the Committee for Mineral Reserves International Reporting Standards CRIRSCO, International Framework Classification for Mineral Reserves and Resources (UNFC), SRE-PRMS and others are studied. Students acquire practical skills of analysis of the results of exploration work at different stages of subsoil development.

lectures and seminars, written works, graphic and program presentation, independent students' work
Assessment methods and criteria
Semester assessment: 1) Test - 20 points (limit score of 12 points) 2) Assessment for work in practical and seminar classes - 40 points (limit score of 24 points) The final assessment of knowledge at the end of the semester is conducted in the form of a written exam. Maximum score of 40 points, limit score of 24 points. At the exam, the student answers the ticket questions in writing. During the discussion of the results of the student's written exam, additional questions may be asked within the program of the discipline.
