Learning outcomes
- disclosure of the content of the concept of "geographic information systems"; - acquaintance with features of GIS software; - creation of a geoinformation database of geological and ecological data; - mastering the basics of modeling of geological objects by GIS; - application of spatial analysis to solve various applied geological and ecological-geological problems; - creation of thematic and forecast maps; - application of GIS in geology and earth sciences.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Acquaintance with academic disciplines, such as: geoinformatics, basics of mathematical analysis, statistical processing of geological information, general and historical geology, hydrogeology, engineering geology, structural geology.
Course content
The program reveals the main aspects of the application of geographic information systems in geology. The subject of study are geological objects in terms of their factual description, presentation, modeling and analysis using GIS

Assessment methods and criteria
The control is carried out according to the modular rating system and includes: practical work (where students must demonstrate the quality of acquired knowledge and solve problems using the methods and tools outlined by the teacher) and defense of independent work, and 2 written tests. The final assessment is conducted in the form of a written-oral exam.
