Learning outcomes
Know the general provisions of modern theory of geographic information systems, the basics of methods of creating geographic information databases. Be able to choose and justify the necessary conditions for creating a project in GIS taking into account the requirements of the task, create geographic information bases of geological and hydrogeological data, develop schemes and techniques for optimal solution, model geological and hydrogeological objects using GIS

Course content
Students are acquainted with different areas of geoinformation research and tasks of geoinformatics as a science; basics of spatial analysis of hydrogeological and engineering-geological information; functional capabilities of GIS technological units; methods of GIS application in solving a number of scientific and practical economic problems are studied

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, laboratory work, independent work of students
Assessment methods and criteria
Control involves laboratory work and 2 written tests. The final assessment is conducted in the form of a written and oral exam. The results of students' learning activities are evaluated on a 100-point scale. A student is not allowed to take the final grade if he / she scored less than 20 points during the semester. During the semester the student can score from 36 to 60 points. During the exam the student can get from 24 to 40 points
